Gender equity aims at ensuring both women and men including staff and students are considered equal and treated equally in terms of dignity and rights. It refers to fairness and justice in the distribution of benefits and responsibilities between women and men.

Institutional initiatives to promote Gender Equity in the Campus

Gender Equity Policy

The gender equity policy provides a framework of principles and practices that will improve the progressive opportunities of all students and staff regardless of their gender. The gender equity Policy ensures that students and staff are not discriminated against based on gender differentiation or any other factor like caste, race, nationality etc.

Objectives of Gender Equity Policy

  1. Equal career opportunities for women and men.
  2. Fair distribution of unpaid and paid work among women and men, wages and salaries that women and men can live on independently.
  3. Develop processes to strengthen the presence of women in academic/research leadership positions.
  4. Raise gender equity awareness by organizing awareness programs such as guest lectures, seminars, workshops on regular basis.

5. Provide sustainability of the culture change which will support gender equity and develop a sense of self confidence among students and staff members.

Gender Audit

The gender audit is conducted annually with the objective to ensure gender balance in the campus by providing equal opportunities for all the students and staff without any kind of gender bias.

The audit report is analysed and corrective measures are taken on the basis of feedback.

Awareness Programme on Gender Equity

          Awareness programs are organized to raise awareness of Gender Equity. Students are advised to feel free to speak with any of them if they experience gender issues or discrimination. It is focused on the fact that both men and women are free to develop their personal abilities and make choices without limitations set by stereotype rigid gender roles and prejudices.

Women Empowerment

The Women Empowerment Committee at the institute was established with the aim of empowering and orienting women to recognize their true potential and to help them attain their own stand in a competing world.
